Posted Nov, 11, 2008 BNJ Co-Editor  Ruth Bryant White emails the producer of the Fox News Bill O’Reilly's Show and tells him if the Conservatives are shocked that they didn’t win the elections. Ruth tried to team up with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee (who now has a show on Fox News Channel) to make sure the conservatives won. Maybe that would have helped. Continuing Ruth writes if she and Mike Huckabee would have been a team that would have been the only reason she would have been close to becoming a Republican. Ruth says “I don’t believe in political parties, but I was willing to make this one sacrifice for our country. I’m glad I didn’t get the chance to be a Republican.  Mike never responded to me, like so many others who claim they care about our country.

Posted Nov, 10, 2008 BNJ –  2008 (I) Presidential Candidate Dr. Don Allen Youngstown Ohio reports that he spoke to Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly and Bill basically said the reason he didn’t have Independents on his show is because they were unorganized.

Posted Nov 10, BNJ  response by Ruth Bryant White replies: So why were they so anxious to have McCain and his unorganized party on his program? I think he’s angry that Unity 08 (The organization supposedly for Independent Candidates that was supposedly financed by New York Governor Michael Bloomberg and their celebrity supporters) are not what he thought they would be, so therefore he and all of the other elite media decided they would run and hide from those of us who had solutions to today’s pressing issues. Is Bill more concerned about his image or the issues that need immediate attention, by the country knowing them so they can mobilize to empower themselves?

Posted Nov 16,2008 sent by Joanna Hudson in Salt Lake City Utah What CNN, MSNBC and Fox have not told the public

In the aftermath of the recent election, we may find ourselves oddly on the defensive regarding our support for the Yes on Proposition 8 cause.  Our young people have been especially subject to mean spirited comments by high school friends and teachers.  We have nothing to be ashamed of.  We did nothing wrong.  In fact, we did everything that a civic minded American can and should do.  I have put together a few facts that help me to appreciate our position better.  For example:
Mormons make up less than 2% of the population of California.  There are approximately 800,000 LDS out of a total population of approximately 34 million.

Mormon voters were less than 5% of the yes vote.  If one estimates that 250,000 LDS are registered voters (the rest being children), then LDS voters made up 4.6% of the Yes vote and 2.4% of the total Proposition 8 vote.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated no money to the Yes on 8 campaign.   Individual members of the Church were encouraged to support the Yes on 8 efforts and, exercising their constitutional right to free speech, donated whatever they felt like donating.

The No on 8 campaign raised more money than the Yes on 8 campaign.  Unofficial estimates put No on 8 at $38 million and Yes on 8 at $32 million, making it the most expensive non-presidential election in the country.

Advertising messages for the Yes on 8 campaign are based on case law and real-life situations.  The No on 8 supporters have insisted that the Yes on 8 messaging is based on lies. Every Yes on 8 claim is supported.

The majority of our friends and neighbors voted Yes on 8.  Los Angeles County voted in favor of Yes on 8.  Ventura County voted in favor of Yes on 8.

African Americans overwhelmingly supported Yes on 8.  Exit polls show that 70% of Black voters chose Yes on 8.  This was interesting because the majority of these voters voted for President-elect Obama.  No on 8 supporters had assumed that Obama voters would vote No on 8.

The majority of Latino voters voted Yes on 8.  Exit polls show that the majority of Latinos supported Yes on 8 and cited religious beliefs (assumed to be primarily Catholic).

The Yes on 8 coalition was a broad spectrum of religious organizations.   Catholics, Evangelicals, Protestants, Orthodox Jews, Muslims – all supported Yes on 8.  It is estimated that there are 10 million Catholics and 10 million Protestants in California.  Mormons were a tiny fraction of the population represented by Yes on 8 coalition members.

Not all Mormons voted in favor of Proposition 8.  Our faith accords that each person be allowed to choose for him or her self.  Church leaders have asked members to treat other members with "civility, respect and love," despite their differing views.

The Church did not violate the principal of separation of church and state.  The LDS Church is under no obligation to refrain from participating in the political process, to the extent permitted by law.  U.S. election law is very clear that Churches may not endorse candidates, but may support issues.  The Church as always been very careful on this matter and occasionally (not often) chooses to support causes that it feels to be of a moral nature.

Supporters of Proposition 8 did exactly what the Constitution provides for all citizens:  they exercised their First Amendment rights to speak out on an issue that concerned them, make contributions to a cause that they support, and then vote in the regular electoral process.  For the most part, this seems to have been done in an open, fair, and civil way.  Opponents of 8 have accused supporters of being bigots, liars, and worse.  The fact is, we simply did what Americans do – we spoke up, we campaigned, and we voted.

Like Barack Obama's campaign, the plan to rename a Hempstead school after the president-elect was "a remarkable grassroots approach," the district superintendent said Friday.

At a meeting Thursday night, the five-member Hempstead school board voted unanimously to rename one of its schools Barack Obama Elementary School, said Superintendent Joseph Laria.

The change was effective immediately, although the district does not have a new sign yet. The school, formerly called Ludlum Elementary School, is on William Street in Hempstead.

School staff and students, who participated in mock presidential and vice presidential debates before the Nov. 4 election, initiated the request to rename the school, Laria said.

Wal-Mart worker dies in Black Friday stampede
BY JOSEPH MALLIA and JONATHAN STARKEY |joseph.mallia@newsday.com
12:37 PM EST, November 28, 2008
A 34-year-old Wal-Mart worker died Friday morning after "a throng of shoppers . . . physically broke down the doors" and knocked him to the ground as the crowd pushed its way into the store at a Valley Stream mall, Nassau police said.

One police officer told Newsday the prelude to the death at the Green Acres Mall was "a mob scene." The man who died was a temporary, part-time Wal-Mart worker, the officer said.

Shoppers who surged into the store were asked to leave by Wal-Mart workers, some of them crying and visibly upset, said one shopper, Kimberly Cribbs, of Far Rockaway.

Though rumors circulated among the shoppers that someone had been badly injured, people ignored the Wal-Mart workers' requests that they stop shopping, move to the front of the store and exit, Cribbs said.

"They kept shopping. It's not right. They're savages," said Cribbs.
She said she entered the store after the worker was already being attended to by emergency personnel. As people waited, then pushed into the store, she said, "It was chaos."
Another shopper said people were screaming and shoving in line before the opening.
The worker was knocked down at 5:03 a.m. at the store, and was taken to Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream, where he was pronounced dead at 6:03 a.m.
As of Friday morning the cause of death was described as "undetermined", police said. An exact cause of death will be determined by the county medical examiner's office, police said. The man's name was not immediately made public by the police, and the store was closed.
Asked at a news conference whether the store had enough security given the crowds that Black Friday shopping typically attracts, Det. Lt. Michael Fleming, who is investigating the death, said no.
"This crowd was out of control," Fleming said, characterizing the melee as "utter chaos."
Fleming said an estimated 2,000 people had gathered in line around 5 a.m. as the store was preparing to open.
People in the rear of the line began pushing, cascading the people in the front into the doors, which were knocked off their hinges, Fleming said.
Hundreds of shoppers who then streamed in literally stepped on the worker who later died, Fleming said.
Fleming said the worker, who has not been publicly identified, was a temporary worker sent by an employment agency.
Fleming said criminal charges were possible in the case, though he said it would be near impossible to identify individual shoppers.
But, he said, authorities were reviewing surveillance video.
Shopper Camla Brown described a disorganized mob that was thirsting to get into the store before the trampling.
"There was no organization," said Brown, a 47-year-old restaurant manager from Valley Stream.
Four other Wal-Mart shoppers at the Valley Stream store were taken to hospitals Friday morning. A 28-year-old pregnant woman was taken to a hospital for observation, and three other shoppers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment, and they were expected to be released.
Dan Fogelman, spokesman at Wal-Mart corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark., said Friday, "The safety and security of our customers and associates are our top priority."
Fogelman called the death "a tragic situation" and said the company was cooperating fully with the Nassau County police investigation. He declined to comment on whether the company would review its practice of heavily-discounted holiday sales events, or whether the company was reviewing its crowd control measures at such sales.
He said company management were saddened by the death of the worker and the injuries to customers, adding, "Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time."
The Nassau Police Fifth Squad is investigating.

Vancouver, WA,

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the
Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us.

; ; Here are the glorious top 10 winners:

  1.  When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach , California   would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked. And now, the honorable mentions:

2.   The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat-cutting machine and, after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and he also
lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved.

3.  A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car
during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her.

  4. After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver   found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be
transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

5. An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit.

6. A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter,  and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk  and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer... $15. [If someone points a gun at you and gives you money,is a crime committed?]

7. Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he'd just throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinder block and heaved it  over his head at the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit  the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape.

8.  As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store,
a man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately,
and the woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, 'Yes, o fficer, that's her.  That's the lady I stole the purse from.'

9. The Ann Arbor, MI News crime column reported that a man
walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti , Michigan , at 5 A.M.,
flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they  weren't available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away.      [*A 5-STAR STUPIDITY AWARD WINNER]

10.  When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline  and plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake.  The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had.

In the interest of bettering mankind, please share
these with your friends and family... unless of course one of these
individuals by chance is a distant relative or long-lost friend.
In that case, be glad they are distant and hope they remain lost.

*** Remember... They walk among us!

If you were frustrated with the 2008 Elections where the media did not inform you of all of the candidates who were actually running for office, who weren't a part of the two party system, but who have good answers to fit our needs, then you will want to be a part of the Independent Coalition. Further details forthcoming and BNJ will have a link on the front page for your convenience.

I’m in full swing into running for Wisconsin Governor in 2010.  As you also know both parties have lost touch with the American people over the last few years.  I sent emails to both parties to see if I could run on their ticket.  I’ve made it very clear that I will be working for Working people, NOT the wealthy.  The Dems returned an email simply stating they would forward my request.  End of story.  The Republicans have been much more interested.  The Republicans, at least here at the local level, appear to be supportive of me positions and know they need fresh ideas and faces.  I hope to be one of the new up and coming Republican leaders and can get bring the party back to working American values, instead of those set by multi-national corporations.

I can not do this alone.  We still need to replace virtually everyone that is already in power at both the State and Federal levels.  We need new Independent faces to replace our corrupt, powerful leaders.  It doesn’t really matter the party, as long as we can replace Ted Kennedy types with a new Independent Democrats or long standing Republicans with new Independent Republicans.  Best to all, Bill

I received this from a dear friend of mine. She is licensed as a WBA, IBA (etc) Boxing Judge., wife, mother and Christian woman.
.This motherl took on the St Louis Police Dept in a case involving one of her sons who was accused of something he did not do yet was intimidated, verbally abused, and threatened  by them.  After almost 3 years(and with the initial help of A Place for Us National ) she won her demands that (1) the officers involved were fired, (2) that her son receive a written and public apology from the Chief of Police, (3) that mandatory Sensitivity and Diversity Classes for the Department be implemented immediately. I am not sure of any other details.

Submitted by The National Organization On Marriage-New Jersey

Dear Ruth, (Breaking News Journal Editor In Chief)

Unless you live in one of the states where the action has been fast and furious over the past two weeks, you probably haven't heard all that has been going on.

But I think you'd be interested, and pleased, to know that NOM is right in the thick of things, all across the country, but especially in the Northeast.

Gathering Storm Ad
By far the biggest news of the past week has been the reaction to our Gathering Storm ad. The Human Rights Campaign immediately identified the ad as a threat and (over?)reacted vigorously -- so much so that within hours we were receiving media requests from shows like Hardball, Anderson Cooper 360, The Morning Show, and many others. The ad has now been shown repeatedly on national TV for audiences that might never have seen it, including the Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Our Gathering Storm ad was at one point ranked as one of the 50 most-watched videos on YouTube, and has now been viewed more than 500,000 times! It's obvious the ad is making a splash, bigger than we ever dreamed, and we're looking now to expand our ad buys in the Northeast and later across the country. (Click here to help sponsor the Gathering Storm ad campaign.)

New Hampshire
Perhaps the most urgent threat to marriage today is in New Hampshire, where a same-sex marriage bill narrowly passed the House last month, and is pending in the Senate. NOM has been active in NH with radio ads and in helping to bring people out to marriage rallies organized by groups on the ground in the state.

Today marks a special election in Senate District #3, of special significance because it pits a radical left-wing activist (who supports both same-sex marriage and new transgender rights bills pending in the Senate) against former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley, a friend of marriage and the family who could be key in staving off same-sex marriage in New Hampshire. The Human Rights Campaign has been pouring money and manpower into this race, and NOM quickly responded by helping the Cornerstone Action PAC to fund robo-calls and grassroots organizing in the district.  We'll know tomorrow whether our efforts have been enough to turn back the flood of HRC dollars injected into the race, but based on preliminary reports, we're optimistic that the people of Senate District #3 will choose Jeb Bradley to represent the district in Concord.

Iowa
Just hours after the Iowa Supreme Court ruling imposing same-sex marriage on the state, NOM launched a grassroots advocacy center allowing people from all across the nation to contact a group of key Iowa Democratic legislators urging them to support a constitutional amendment to the Iowa Constitution -- a long process, but the only way of reversing the Court ruling. Within just a few days, you and your friends and family sent more than 165,000 emails to these key legislators. With the help of Congressman Steve King, NOM made automated phone calls to more than 250,000 Iowa households, resulting in thousands more phone calls and emails to the Iowa statehouse. Although the push for a marriage amendment remains an uphill climb this year due to opposition from House and Senate leadership, we have the support of majorities in both houses, with support continuing to grow.

Connecticut
The Connecticut same-sex marriage bill will be voted on soon -- perhaps as early as today -- and NOM has played an important role as part of a grassroots campaign opposing the bill, and especially the serious threat it poses to religious liberty in Connecticut. Among other things, NOM has sponsored religious liberty radio ads throughout the state (listen here), made automated "robo-calls" to every household in Connecticut, and is working closely with the Family Institute of Connecticut and the Knights of Columbus to stave off this latest threat to religious groups in Connecticut.

Washington DC
The DC Council, having just adopted a measure to recognize same-sex marriages from other jurisdictions, is widely expected to consider same-sex marriage legislation within the next few months. NOM is now ramping up a campaign to organize opposition to same-sex marriage in the District of Columbia, starting with a series of radio ads that we launched over this past weekend.

New York
With Governor David Paterson announcing plans to introduce same-sex marriage legislation last week, NOM is working to build grassroots coalitions all across New York to make sure the opposition to the measure is strong and building. Current reports suggest that the same-sex marriage is unlikely to pass the Senate this year, but there are no guarantees, with both Senate and House leadership favoring the measure and with numerous tools at their disposal to help swing one or two key votes. So far, more than 750 New Yorkers have contacted their state senator and representative using NOM's action center.

As you can see, it's been a busy couple of weeks! In the days ahead, we'll be continuing to roll out facets of our "Two Million for Marriage" campaign to build a nation-wide army of marriage activists over the next 18 months.

Will you join the campaign today? If we can build an army of 2 million Americans dedicated to protecting marriage at both the state and national levels -- including electing senators and representatives who respect marriage and family -- it will have a profound influence on the political scene, impacting not only marriage, but many of the other values we hold dear as well.

TEA Party News- Boston

On the scene-Christpopher Popham Boston MA : Well, this modest gathering reminded me of the somewhat rag tag assemblage of people that I encountered at last year's July 12th rally for Ron Paul in Washington, D.C.  Both were held below the steps of houses of legislatures on sloping grassy knolls. Mr. Paul's rally had absolutely no media coverage. In Boston, the main organizer, Christen Varley, told me in an interview, that there had been at most about a thousand people on hand, and that CNN and Fox News--they have a local studio across the street--lowered themselves to show up for a few minutes. Christen, whose website is www.gopmom.com informed me that similar gatherings are planned for May--no specific date yet, and for July 4th---naturally.

The crowd was mixed in age and perhaps from all walks of life. I chatted with a number of very concerned folks. On woman from Chicago held a sign reminding us to vote Obama out of office in 2012. She knows first
hand the Illinois connections and made disparaging remarks about the Rev. Wright issue and the other assorted miscreants of Chicago politics.
I spoke for a long time with a man handing out 'business cards' encouraging people to Google Continental Congress 2009 or www.WeThePeopleCongress.org  He was amazed at my telling him about my five road trips across America. After all, I had to get that in---I was a Presidential contender in 2008.

Another lady held up a sign reminding people to consider voting for a new senator or Congressman/Woman in 2010. We chatted, along with another man about the loss of constitutionality in Ma. as well as the U.S.There were lots of hand made and printed signs. Among them were: What's Next--the Shirts Off Our Backs? You are public servants, not public rulers,  Sovereignty Alliance: Barney Frank/Bernie Madoff & the difference is?

Socialism serves servitude.  Can't read 1100 pages of a bill,  When Injustice Becomes Law, Rebellion Becomes Duty, Over Taxation is a Misrepresentation of the Peoples' Will, and More Dollars is Never Enough. I got to the Massachusetts State House a little late, so I did not hear all the speakers. Besides, you really couldn't hear them very well any way. The measly microphone was attached to a single loudspeaker. It was very hard to hear and understand what was being said. Furthermore, the sounds of the city and a few hundred people
chatting amongst themselves combined with a variety of hawkers selling $4 dollar buttons and expensive T-Shirts and the food stalls, reminded me of entering Fenway Park on any baseball day.
One observation.

The liberal sector of America, who negatively critisized these events as having been planned and financed by the conservative capitalists, were wrong and maybe a little red faced now, because Christen also
told me that she and her husband, with a few modest donations, had paid for the event themselves. There were no corporate sponsors.
All in all, I would say it was a mixed rally. Sure, there were plenty of very angry and concerned tea party attendees, but aside from mingling together over such important issues, I'm not sure exactly what was accomplished. Maybe the subsequent events will prove to be better attended and organized, provided our government continues to ride
rough shod over our Constitution and the People see fit to react---finally.

Respectfully submitted,
Christopher Popham Smith.

GUN CONTROL HISTORY, WHAT IT COULD DO TO US !

For those of you interested in maintaining our 2nd Amendment rights. A slighly 'inflated' history for the sake of emphasis, but certainly based
on a lot of truth.

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953,
about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded
up and exterminated
------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million
Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total
of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were
rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000
Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
------------------------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000
Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million
educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
-----------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century
because of gun control: 56 million.
------------------------------
It has now been 1 2 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by
new law to surrender (involuntary buy back) 640,381 personal firearms to
be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia
taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are
now in: List of 7 items:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in
armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the
past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is
unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
ELDERLY.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has
decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian
experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians
disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
.
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them
of this history lesson.

With guns, we are 'citizens'.

Without them, we are 'subjects'.

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew
most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, Please share this gun history perspective with
your family and friends.

March 27, 2009. Reporting from Boston, Massachusetts.

On my way to a late lunch today, around 1:30 p.m., in my local neighborhood of Beacon Hill, I spotted a small, but official-looking motorcade. Several people were entering a large, black
SUV. No big deal I thought, but then I noticed the car to the rear of the SUV was definitely Secret Service. As I was crossing the street, I walked right past the open window of the car.

I spoke briefly with the driver, but did not query him as to the identity of the SUV passengers. Not to brag, but I've had the privilege of meeting many Secret Service men and women in the past two years. They are the best and the bravest and always exceptionally polite.

They were on duty and focused on the SUV. I went on my way, but now really curious to know who they were protecting. After lunch at the Taj Hotel---yes, same owner as the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, India.  It was once
the original Ritz Carlton. I've been going there for meals, functions and tea in the p.m. since my late teens.  Any way, I asked the doormen if they had seen this motorcade. "Oh yes, Mr. Smith".

It was none other than the second in line to the Presidency, Nancy Pelosi. She had been staying at the hotel while visiting Harvard University and 'supporters' in suburban Boston.
I never did get a glimpse of our beloved Speaker of the House, but I sure would like to have had the opportunity to chat with her. Y'all come on back to Boston any time, Ms. Pelosi---I'll be here.

Navy Petty Officer Mike Monsoor

PO2 (EOD2) (Explosive Ordnance Disposal)
Mike Monsoor, a Navy EOD Technician, was
awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
posthumously for jumping on a grenade in Iraq,
giving his life to save his fellow Seals.

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego ,
as his coffin was being moved from the hearse
to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National
Cemetery , SEAL's were lined up on both sides
of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's,
with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's
coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his
gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down
embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.

The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it.

This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero.

When I think of the job situation in this country, I can't help but think this helps in some small way. I don't know how many households there are in the> U.S. but if these were the only things we bought think of the impact.... (She wrote:) This past weekend I was at Kroger. I needed 60 W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets. I was in the light bulb aisle and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off> brand labeled "Everyday Value." I picked up both> types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same> except for the price.

The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the> most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA .So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here - from a company in Cleveland OH ! So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets....yep you guessed it Bounce was more money and made in Canada, the Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!

So my challenge to you is to start reading the labels when> you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that> is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or> your neighbors! If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your> address book so we can all start buying American, one> light bulb at a time! To protect city reserves, avoid tax & fee increases, and prepare for possible state budget impacts in the wake of the May 19th election, I think we need to make substantial changes in the FY 2010 budget.  I released this plan today...

DeMaio Releases Balanced Budget Plan To Protect Reserves and Avoid Tax or Fee Hikes
Proposes a Package of Efficiency Reforms to Save $22.1 Million in Taxpayer Funds

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                   CONTACT: Erica Mendelson, 619-379-7468
Monday, May 4, 2009

SAN DIEGO – City Councilmember Carl DeMaio today released a comprehensive Balanced Budget Plan that would alter the proposed FY 2010 budget to protect city reserves while avoiding tax and fee increases. With the outcome of the May 19th election on state budget reforms highly uncertain, DeMaio is touting his plan as providing an important “cushion” for possible state government cuts to city funding if the state budget deal unravels.

“We have made progress with the recent labor contracts, but the current budget proposal on the table is flawed. The current budget plan imposes untimely fee increases while raiding city reserves – and leaves no cushion for possible state budget cuts. My plan puts $22.1 million in cost saving reforms on the table to help the Mayor and City Council protect city reserves and avoid tax and fee hikes,” DeMaio commented as he released his plan. “My budget proposal also provides the city with an important financial cushion should the state government raid our local funds,” added DeMaio.

DeMaio’s plan reduces budgeted spending by $22.1 million from the original proposal – and includes a number of ef ficiency reforms that would restructure how the city departments operate and emphasize ongoing cost savings rather than the use of “one-time” monies. Among the highlights of DeMaio’s proposal:

Enhancement of Internal Audit Functions: DeMaio adds nearly $400,000 in funding for the Auditor’s Office to expand independent financial and performance audits – and dedicate a fraud investigator to the city’s Whistleblower Hotline. “We can actually save millions in taxpayer funds through this important investment,” commented DeMaio in explaining his proposed spending increase in this area.
Trash Collection Reforms: DeMaio proposes a number of reforms to trash collection that will generate more than $1.5 million in savings annually.
De-Layering of Middle Management: DeMaio adopts a key recommendation of the AFSCME union by proposing the elimination of the position of Assistant Chief Operating Officer and 15 other middle management positions – for savings of $2.5 million.
Redevelopment Contribution: DeMaio proposes a $3 million repayment to the General Fund by the redevelopment agencies – primarily from CCDC.
Reduction in Supplies and Services: Based on reviews showing unexpended amounts in various departments for FY ’09, DeMaio cuts $3.1 million in these accounts.
Partnerships and Philanthropy: DeMaio proposes expanded marketing partnerships, a fundraising drive through the Library Foundation, and better accounting and use of wireless revenues – shaving more than $2 million off the budget deficit.
In January DeMaio released an initial budget proposal outlining reforms to trim city salaries and benefits—and applauded his colleagues recently for unanimously adopting new labor contracts as a key first step in the effort to balance the $60 million FY 2010 budget deficit.  The Mayor is expected to submit a revised budget to the City Council later this month, with City Council taking action by early June.

The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy.
Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.  Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
2) They MUST buy a new American CAR.  Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.
3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.
It can't get any easier than that!
If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes...

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

If not, please disregard.

Today helicopters are flying in the air here in Henderson NV, and 4 services are planned in honor of silenced celebrity entertainer Danny Gans. He leaves behind 3 children and his wife. Danny was a strong Christian and a large contributor to community causes. He will be gravely missed.

Danny resided in Henderson NV. His autobiography was just finished the day before he died. You will hear more about that when breaking News Journal does.

The news of his passing has been on every entertainment and other news circuits including Larry King Live, CNN's Showbiz Tonight, and CNN, Fox and MSNBC News. BNJ will keep you updated on the official autopsy report. The strange thing is  Larry King  (of CNN's  Larry King Live) was in town, because his wife was supposed to perform with Danny on Friday May1, 2009 the day he passed away. Danny has never performed with anyone before, so this was to be a big night in Las Vegas, but it wasn't to be.  He was 52 years old. Keep the family and close friends in your prayers.

This Isn't Funny Anymore

After the constant complaining about how corrupt the Republicans were during President Bush's term, the Democrats swept into power in 2006 promising to clean up the mess and give us the most transparent government ever.  Building upon the President's highly unfavorable ratings (and ignoring the even lower ratings of congress) the Democrats won big in the 2006 & 2008 elections.  Recently, a third Democrat governor took a political nose dive.

First, New York State Governor Eliott Spitzer was caught with his harlot girlfriend and had to resign from office.  Then, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was revealed to have been trying to sell the Senate seat of President-Elect Obama.  He is soon to be impeached and maybe even imprisoned. The latest crook is New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, who had to withdraw himself from nomination as Secretary of Commerce due to financial shenanigans involving state contract bids and donations to some of his campaign organizations.

This sorry tale of arrogant elites continues with our esteemed Senate.  Governor Blagojevich, ignoring all calls for restraint by his fellow Democrats, nominated a former Illinois State Attorney General, Roland Burris, to fill the vacant seat of departing Senator Barack Obama.  In a fit of high dudgeon, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declined to allow Mr. Burris to be seated, even though the governor was well within his rights to name a replacement since he hadn't even been charged with any crime at that point. As for Mr. Burris, he has no blemish on his record of public service that would have been a  cause for denying him his seat.  After much foolishness, Mr. Burris finally became a Senator from Illinois

In New York, Senator Hillary Clinton has become Secretary of State in the new Obama administration.  As in Illinois, the New York governor, James Patterson, has the authority to name a replacement to fill Mrs. Clinton's spot.  Despite there being any number of Democrats who have served in New York, an attempt to secure this seat was made by none other than the daughter of President John F. Kennedy, Caroline Schlossberg.  Mrs. Schlossberg of course, had been making the most of her famous family name by using Kennedy in many public appearances.

Now, Mrs. Schlossberg has withdrawn her name from consideration citing personal reasons.  Although there is no reason to doubt her, rumors keep being spread about tax malfeasance and other issues, but, the nonsense doesn’t end there.  Governor Patterson has named an upstate NY Congresswoman, Kirsten Gillibrand, as the person to fill Mrs. Clinton’s seat.  Apparently, Mrs. Gillibrand doesn’t adhere to the strict Democrat party line and is pro-gun and pro-life.  Downstate Democrats are furious that someone who isn’t following their ideology could possibly be selected.

Meanwhile, in Minnesota, the senate race between incumbent Republican Ron Coleman and his Democrat opponent, comedian Al Franken, is going to court.  All sorts of allegations of miscounts and double counts have surfaced after a massive re-count of the state election results of November 4.  In one of the more bizarre charges, it appears that in some districts, more votes were counted than there were actual voters.  The circus atmosphere of our national politics doesn't end there however.

Even the exalted position of Secretary of the Treasury is under a cloud of scandal and lies.  The nominee,Timothy Geithner, was found to have not paid certain taxes for the years 2001 – 2004.  When an IRS audit caught him for the years 2003 & 2004, he paid the back taxes and penalties. However, it conveniently slipped his mind that he didn’t pay these same particular taxes in 2001 & 2002, that is, until he was nominated to be Secretary of the Treasury
His claim during confirmation hearings can only be listened to if we follow the sage advice of Mrs. Clinton when she basically called General Petraeus a liar.  Her words at that time were, “A willing suspension of disbelief”.

What we are seeing in all of these instances is a verification of the old adage that 'power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely'.  The two major parties have now accumulated absolute power between themselves, and they are in effect, one huge, corrupt, political organization.  They have engineered the entire election process to assure themselves of this continual lock on power.  Without any real challenge to their position, they have relegated leadership, the will of the people, and the Constitution, to the back burner.  Instead, they engage in pure partisanship designed to discredit the other in an effort to secure the most power to one side of this two sided corrupt political system.

We the people are at fault here even though it can be said that we have been scammed and duped into this 'lesser of evils' mentality.  It is time to acknowledge that we have failed to keep our eyes on these elite crooks, allowing them to be re-elected to office over and over again.  Ignoring the wise words of Albert Einstein that doing the same thing again and again while expecting different results is insane, we have put the same individuals back into office, expecting that this time it will be different.  The result has only been the same old same old, and an insane and corrupt government.

We need to reject the propaganda of the DEM/GOP/MSM political machines we have been fed and we need to reconsider this idea of party loyalty.  It is simply not true that only “they”, the elites of the two major parties, have the necessary wisdom, knowledge, and experience to govern.  In fact, if these items illustrate anything, it is that these elites are incompetent, untrustworthy fools!

What we should be loyal to is Constitutional self government.  Our votes should go to people of good moral character who will put the needs of the nation first. There is no other way that we can, as the founders stated, secure the blessings of liberty to our children and grandchildren.  Without new thinking and patriotic men and women in office, the corruption will continue. The time to vote for independent and third party candidates with no ties to PACs, lobbyists, corporations, and other influence seekers has arrived!

In 2010, we must not once again fall victim to the scams of the elites.  We can no longer afford to have partisan politicians disregard the needs of the nation because they are so concerned about power and the lifelong job security they have created for themselves.  Why would we ever re-elect any of these elite crooks who have been wasting the nation's resources, destroying our once great educational system, weakening our military by using it to police the world, subverting our national sovereignty by subscribing to United Nations mandates and leaving our borders wide open to illegal immigrants and terrorists, and mortgaging the financial future of our children by their profligate spending that now has us in debt to the rest of the world by over 12 trillion dollars with more on the way?

The insanity must stop!  No one else can do it for us, we must do it for ourselves.  If we will not do so, we can only be assured that the future will bring on more of the same, and in the end, the future of freedom will decline and quite probably disappear as the elites continue on with their self aggrandizing ways. The choice is there for us, but we need some faith in ourselves and some guts to reclaim the inheritance that is rightfully ours. The path is clear and the decision is our own.  Either we rule ourselves through Constitutional self government, or we continue to submit to the ruling elites of the two corrupt parties that have as their goals self preservation and power.  What choice will you make?

I would like to leave you with this quote from one of our most famous patriots and founding father, James Madison.
“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same
hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or

elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”

To The Editor,

Congratulations on three recently published articles in the BreakingNewsJournal that have come together in a unique manner to shine a bright light on the state of our nation in 2009.  What that light has exposed is not pretty by any means. The three articles, by authors C.P.Smith, Ruth Bryant-White, and Dr. Don Allen, give a sobering but thoughtful look at how our government, "of the people, by the people, for the people", has devolved into a tyranny of corruption and incompetence by the elites who run the two major corrupt parties.

In his February 20th article, businessman and former Presidential candidate Christopher Popham Smith, provided an overview of the activities of our Federal Government with regards to the current financial crisis and other issues.  In his own creative way, Mr. Smith has pointed out the hypocrisy and incompetence of our current government.

Mrs. Bryant-White, author and also a former Presidential candidate, takes a somewhat different look at our government.  Her March 19th column clearly shows the creeping attitude of government control of our right to free

speech, a right that has been specifically defined by the First Amendment. The congress is now considering legislation to control 'talk radio' because it is afraid that the voice of the people may overcome the power trip that now consumes our politicians.  One doesn't need to be "conservative" or

"liberal" to understand that if the government TAKES to itself the right to muzzle ideas it does not like, that in the end, the government will be the only entity talking.

The third article, published on the 21st by Dr. Don Allen, who was also an independent candidate for President in 2009, demonstrates how our government is steadily weakening the United States as it pursues the agenda of the internationalists who hate America.  This cabal of dictatorial nations, NGO's out for the money, and the corrupt 'leaders' at the United Nations, have as their goal the submission of the American people and the Constitution of the United States to the will of the elites who will run the New World Order.  Additionally,  part of their goal includes the squandering of American wealth, as the current financial mess indicates. It has been that wealth, created by the hard work and sacrifice of Americans, that has provided the capital that has in the past, financed the entire world economy.

For anyone paying attention, it should be abundantly clear that the managing of the family business, aka the United States of America, has fallen into the hands of elites who have secured for themselves a virtual lock on power. This unchecked power has given us fifty years or more of incompetent, and quite frankly, illegal actions and legislation by these elites, and it is destroying the foundations of morality, common sense, frugality, and patriotism that have made America the greatest nation on earth.

The DEM/GOP/MSM propaganda machines have duped the people into believing a lie.  That lie is that only they, the elites of the two major parties and the complicit MSM, have the necessary wisdom, knowledge, and experience to govern.  The depth of this lie can be clearly seen in the state of affairs our country now finds itself and is so plainly exposed in the referenced articles.  The immense power now concentrated in the hands of these individuals has kept from the people new thinking, new blood, creativity, and innovation; key ingredients needed for America to remain free.

The fault, in a sense, lies with us.  It is true that we were scammed, but we have continued to allow the elites to steal our inheritance right out from under us.  By our continuing to vote the lesser of two evils, we have secured for ourselves more evil.  If, in 2010, we once again do the same thing, and return to power the same people, how will we ever achieve a different result?

We need to change how we think and how we act. The time has come for "we the people" to stand up, re-assert our authority as the rightful owners of this nation, and reclaim the inheritance we were given. Either we seek out and elect independent candidates, candidates not tied to parties, corporations, unions, and money grubbing lobbyists, or we forfeit the future we are passing along to our children to the whims of the elites.

The choice will shortly be before us.  The question to be asked is, what will we do about it?

Thanks,

Joe Oliva, BNJ Columnist, Founding Board Member of The Independent Coalition and 2008 Presidential Candidate, Long Island New York
